St. John Vianney Parish Community
As followers of Jesus Christ, and as full members of the Roman Catholic Church, we, the parish community of St. John Vianney, joyfully proclaim our saviour risen. Through prayer, and sacramental celebration of life in Jesus, we join as co-creators in his mission of justice and peace, through the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.

ANGEL GIFT GIVING TREE

Once again, in conjunction with the C.A.S., St. John Vianney parishioners are invited to participate in the Angel Tree gift giving program.
This program allows children who may not normally receive a gift at Christmas to experience the magic of Christmas.

Beginning the weekend of November 27th and 28th, parishioners will be asked to choose a paper angel from the tree in the parish hall that will bear the name and age of a child in need of a gift.  Simply purchase a gift suitable for the boy or girl and their age level, wrap it, and return it to the parish by the weekend of December 18th and 19th with the angel you received attached to the gift and the parish, along with the Children’s Aid Society, will ensure the child receives it.
Suggestions for gift buying:
- Older children may prefer a gift certificate from a local   merchant

- If purchasing clothing, please ask for a gift receipt and enclose it with your gift.

For more info. please call Chantal Towsley at 727-0966
(*It is requested that no religious articles be given as children are of various backgrounds and religions)

SHEPHERD'S TRUST

Our priests faithfully serve our families, in our churches, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, missions and on our streets, and for that we are very grateful.

The Shepherds’ Trust does more than bridge the gap in our priest’s retirement years; it says thank-you in a very tangible way for the blessings we have received.  Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

REMEMBRANCE TREE

In remembrance of our departed loved ones and friends, you may purchase a "peaceful dove" for a minimum donation of $10 (the price of an unannounced Mass).

Your loved ones will be remembered at all Christmas Masses beginning with the 6:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve. The departed souls who have been named on the doves will be processed with the "gifts" and placed at the foot of the altar.

The "doves" will go on sale beginning this weekend after all Masses in the parish hall or by visiting the Parish Office during weekday business hours. A notification card will be provided upon request, should you wish to send it to an appropriate relative/friend.

The doves will be displayed on a Remembrance Tree closer to Christmas & all names will be put in the Book of Remembrance located in the church vestibule.

All proceeds will go directly to reducing the parish debt.

For more info. call: Karen at 726-8007 Ext. 101.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Lest we Forget…
November 11, 2010

At Mass this weekend let us pay grateful tribute to the memory of those who have died, cherish those who have suffered injury and honor those who dedicate themselves to the protection of freedom and human dignity that we so often take for granted.

Let us continue to remember and pray for all who have died and have been commended to God forever.
